Gavalochori Village

Description

Gavalohori belongs to the province Apokoronou. The village with about 500 residents has very interesting and well-preserved folk architecture.

Sightseeings/History

In this protected, traditional village a lot of interesting buildings can be found, such as the mill of the 18th century with two arches, the churches of St Mary and St Sergius, the old school and many traditional houses. Do not miss the opportunity to stroll around the Venetian walls and the shrine of St Paul’s Cathedral. Also in GAVALOCHORI an association of women continues the old art of lace (Pottery)

The village has a coffee shop, a bakery , a mini market, two tavernas .The visitors can also see the unique folklore museum run by the Ministry of culture. The landscape around the village still has its natural beauty.
